It is a fact that we need to examine with increased concern that boys get into trouble than girls, that boys no less intelligent than girls, yet our educational environment in which children placed seems to be more congenial to girls than boys. More boys than girls failed in school work, are held back, sent to the principal office as what my son did a week ago for his misbehavior, become more diligent and demand more attention from the guidance teacher or to their class advisers.

There is evidence that children who came from rural areas are more willing to cooperate with the teacher or are passive and apathetic while those from urban centers are ore assertive and quite resistant to authority. In school we find failures and various forms of labeling and stigmatizing inflicted upon youngsters today.

Education today is the effort we make to provide learning situation for our children. If the essential elements are missing learning cannot take place. How children view can view them affects their acceptance of new experience. Do our children inn and out of school gaining a sense of being adequate with the tasks of the school? What hinders the development in a sense of personal adequacy? One reason is the lack of attention in the part of the teacher for every individual child to develop his self respect because of her pre-occupation to finish the minimum requirements in the course of study.

Intelligence can be thought of us the developed capacity to learn, this can be affected by teaching in school and so in every homes. When a child feels and able to learn, he can interact with those around him, especially with the teacher and the parents who are guiding them and providing the learning experiences. The child is not sure of himself and his capacities cannot afford to follow the teacher into a new and strange place where he may be punished for being inadequate. Current insights in human behavior suggest that such children who have the feeling of inadequacy cannot work and use their intelligence fully. We may make sometimes mistakes in calling our children dull. Perhaps we need also to study of current methods on judging intelligence and to device way of gaining an understanding of a child’s self concept.
